At least one gunman was killed and two suspects arrested in an attack on a hotel in Mali’s capital Bamako. The building had been converted into a base for a European Union military training operation.
There were no casualties among the missions’s personnel.

The gunmen apparently tried to force their way in but were stopped by security guards who opened fire.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Last November an al Qaeda affiliate claimed an attack on a Bamako Hotel in which dozens of people died.
The group also targeted a beach resort town in Ivory Coast earlier this month, killing 19 people.
